SPECIAL INTERVIEW
WITH MIHO NOJIRI
Miho Nojiri of ence shares her thoughts on the collaborative jewelry collection with BLANC IRIS.
— First, can you tell us about your brand, ence?
The name “ence” comes from the endings of words like incense (scent), innocence (purity), and experience. It reflects my love for fragrance, for pure and unspoiled things, and for the experiences that have shaped me. I launched the brand with the desire to create things that I can truly believe in—things I’m genuinely proud of.
— What does BLANC IRIS mean to you personally?
It’s a brand I’ve cherished and worn for years. As their collections have grown, BLANC IRIS has become a staple in my wardrobe. Honestly, it feels like an extension of my body—I wear their pieces every single day. Many of their designs pair effortlessly with simple styles, which makes them a perfect match for the way I dress.
— How did this collaboration come about?
I wanted to express, in my own way, the charm of BLANC IRIS—jewelry I wear every day and truly love. That led me to reach out to Araki, the brand’s Creative Director. At first, I thought about creating something entirely from scratch. But because I already have such a deep connection to the brand, and knew I would continue wearing the pieces long after, I was determined to make this collaboration happen. Thankfully, they graciously agreed—and here we are.
— Tell us more about the pieces you created.
The idea began with combining elements from BLANC IRIS’s existing collections. I paired a necklace I own with one of their chain designs to create a versatile piece that works both as a bracelet and a key charm. These days, there are so many ways to wear charms—and I thought, "How fun would it be to bring that versatility into jewelry?"
Since I often wear pants, I’m a big fan of BLANC IRIS’s wallet chains. That became another point of inspiration, and as I explored other uses, this bracelet form came together beautifully. We created two types of chains—one bold and masculine, the other simple and more feminine. Both have that refined elegance BLANC IRIS is known for, and I’m truly in love with them.
— Any styling tips?
My style is usually quite minimal, so I often just throw on a shirt and clip the piece onto a belt loop of my jeans—that’s my go-to. But I also love how it flatters the skin when worn on the wrist, so I recommend wearing it as a bracelet with a sleeveless top or T-shirt.
It also works beautifully as a bag charm, or you can attach one of your own rings to the chain and wear it on your belt loop while using the chain itself as a bracelet. Since it's silver jewelry that fits any occasion, I hope people will enjoy mixing and matching it to suit their mood.
